Service weapons stolen from home of Manitoba RCMP officer

Winnipeg Police are looking into a break-in in Island Lakes that happened sometime between August 15 and 16, 2019.

Police say that the home of an RCMP officer was broken into and a number of items were stolen including the officers service pistol and Taser.

The handgun is a Smith and Wesson 5906 with the RCMP logo on the side.

Both weapons were stored inside a safe. The Smith and Wesson also had a trigger lock at the time of the theft and was not loaded.

No ammunition was stolen during the theft

Winnipeg Police Major Crimes Unit has undertaken an investigation into the break-in and theft.
