Two RCMP officers are under investigation by Manitoba’s police watchdog agency, the Independent Investigation Unit (IIU) .
The investigation stems from a complaint that was filed after the two officers attended a party on June 29, 2017, at another off-duty officer’s home and allegedly went for drives in their personal vehicles after they had been drinking. Several other off-duty officers were also at the party according to police.
Manitoba East District received the complaint on July 6, 2017, and investigated the allegations. On August 11, 2017 RCMP ‘D’ Division was told about the complaint and immediately contacted the IIU.
Zane Tessler, IIU civilian director considers it to be in the public interest to have the IIU investigate the incident.
