The Independent Investigation Unit of Manitoba (IIU) has cleared the officer who shot a suspect during an incident in Municipality of WestLake-Gladstone.
Police had responded to a report of a stabbing around 8:50 am on December 15, 2021. Police conducted patrols in the area and quickly found the male suspect. A confrontation occurred and the suspect was shot. He died a short time later.
The IIU was informed of the incident an began an investigation.
The investigators reviewed a number of reports and audio recordings and spoke with a number of witnesses both civilian and law enforcement.
It was determined following the investigation by the civilian director that there was no reasonable grounds to support any charges against the subject officer.
