Early Monday morning, May 9, 2022, RCMP in Thompson spotted a wanted male at a business on Thompson Drive South. As the officer attempted an arrest the suspect fled on foot. Police pursued the male and a physical altercation occurred. Officers were able to arrest the suspect and take him into custody.
During the incident one of the officers was stabbed by a knife in the suspect’s pocket. The officer was taken to hospital, treated and released.
A search of the suspect after his arrest uncovered 240 grams of cocaine.
Once the male had been taken to the RCMP detachment he went into medical distress. While waiting for paramedics to arrive the male collapsed and officers immediately performed CPR. The male was taken to hospital, treated and released.
29-year-old Mohamed Abdi of Toronto has been charged for his alleged involvement with Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking, Possession of a Weapon for Dangerous Purpose, six counts of Fail to Comply, Possession of Property Obtained by Crime and Resisting Arrest.
He was detained in custody.
