After being arrested three months ago and charged more than two months ago the RCMP in Manitoba have released information about one of their own facing impaired driving charges.
On September 1, 2017, Corporal Scott Hanson, an RCMP officer since 2000, was arrested after the vehicle he was driving while off-duty was reportedly driving erratically on Provincial Trunk Highway 202 near Birds Hill Park.

Responding officers stopped the vehicle and noticed the driver showed signs of impairment once he was out of the vehicle. He was then arrested for impaired operation of a motor vehicle and taken to the depot in East St. Paul. Once at the depot Hanson refused a breathalyzer test.
It took RCMP almost a month to lay charges against the officer.
RCMP did inform the Independent Investigation Unit of Manitoba the night of Hanson’s arrest and are monitoring the investigation.
Hanson was placed on administrative leave and will appear in court on December 5, 2017.
