Manitoba’s Independent Investigation Unit (IIU) have charged an RCMP officer with Sexual Assault and Sexual Interference following an investigation that began on July 27, 2020.
At the time of the initial report of the investigation the IIU said the cases stemmed from allegations about a sexual assault on a minor on July 1, 2020
IIU Civilian Director, Zane Tessler is satisfied there are reasonable grounds to believe a criminal offence occurred and authorized charges against the officer.
The officer was released on an undertaking after the arrest.
The IIU will not be releasing anymore information on the case due to the sensitive nature of the charges. The RCMP and the victim have been advised of the IIU’s decision.
