An RCMP officer who was being investigated for careless storage of a firearm is now facing charges.
The Independent Investigation Unit of Manitoba (IIU) began the investigation into the alleged incident by the off-duty officer in February 2021.
The civilian director of the IIU has determined there are reasonable grounds to believe an offence occurred under the Criminal Code.
Cst Richard Johnson has been issued a summons for careless storage of a firearm and is scheduled to appear in The Pas Provincial Court in December.
