The Independent Investigation Unit (IIU) has concluded its investigation into an allegation of assault by an on-duty Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) officer in The Pas. The incident, which occurred on September 29, 2023, involved the officer allegedly using force to detain an adult female while responding to a domestic incident at a residence in The Pas.
Following the completion of the investigation, the civilian director determined that Criminal Code charges should be laid against the officer. As a result, RCMP officer Const. Kyle Kruzer was released on a summons on July 23. He has been charged with one count of assault contrary to Section 266 of the Criminal Code.
The case will now proceed through the judicial system.
