RCMP officer charged for alleged sexual misconduct while on-duty

The Independent Investigation Unit (IIU) announced their findings into an allegation of sexual misconduct by an on-duty RCMP officer.

The IIU began the investigation in July of 2021 after an incident occurred in the Flin Flon area of Manitoba. The civilian director has determined that there are reasonable grounds to believe a criminal offence occurred and has authorized a charge of Breach of Trust.

On October 7, 2021, RCMP cat. Nicolas James Barrett was arrested and charged for his alleged involvement. He was released on an undertaking and will appear in Provincial Court on November 23, 2021.
