Police have a man in custody after he assaulted an RCMP officer in Gods Lake Narrows about 550 kilometres north of Winnipeg.

On Thursday May 2, 2019, officers were called to a home in the community around 9:15 pm after two men had forced their way in and assaulted the 38-year-old resident before fleeing on foot.

An officer patrolling in the area watched as one of the suspects came out of the woods and threw a large rock at the police cruiser. The officer stopped and was then assaulted by suspect. Several other officers arrived and the suspect was taken into custody.

Mark Clifton Ross, 27, is facing charges for his alleged involvement of Assault on a Police Officer Causing Bodily Harm, Resisting Arrest, Breaking and Entering with Intent and Fail to Comply x3 for both incidents.

RCMP arrested the second suspect in the home invasion later last night. Roger White, 29, is facing charges for his alleged involvement of Breaking and Entering with Intent and Fail to Comply x3.
