Manitoba drivers are still taking dangerous risks while driving
The May long weekend traditionally signals warmer weather is upon us and many Manitobans take to the highways as they travel to their favourite getaway spots. With more and more people heading out of the city to cottage country the likelihood of serious motor vehicle accidents increase especially if drivers make dangerous choices.

This past long weekend was unfortunately no exception to the rule. RCMP were out in force across Manitoba and came in contact with hundreds of drivers who put themselves and others at risk.
- 33 people charged with Criminal Code Impaired Driving
- 18 alcohol- or drug-related administrative suspensions
- 33 charges for failing to wear seatbelts
- 541 charges for speeding
- 15 charges for using a handheld electronic device while driving
- 262 other traffic-related charges
- 24 prohibited/suspended drivers
- 2 fatalities
