RCMP in Portage la Prairie have arrested a 24-year-old in connection to a suspicious fire early Tuesday morning.
According to investigators they had arrested the suspect on unrelated charges of Assault with a Weapon, Possession of a Weapon for a Dangerous Purpose, Uttering Threats, and Being Unlawfully in a Dwelling.
Investigators knew that the female had been at the home that was set ablaze prior to the fire so they questioned her. During the questioning police determined she had started the fire by lighting items on the porch.
The suspect was charged for her alleged involvement with Arson with Disregard for Human Life and Arson with Damage to Property.
RCMP say that they will not release the name of the suspect out of concern for her safety.
