RCMP searching for suspect after teen abducted Sunday

RCMP are looking for a male suspect after a 16-year-old female alleged she was abducted while walking her dog.

Police say the teen was on Ste Annes Road, southeast of Landmark early Sunday evening, June 23, 2019 when a pickup truck stopped and offered the girl a ride. When the victim declined the offer she was forced into the vehicle by the male driver.

The female victim was able to escape as the truck slowed near the dead-end on Road 45 North, about four kilometres east of Landmark.

This is an extremely serious situation but we want to reassure the public that we are doing everything we can to track down the suspect
Sgt. Paul Manaigre of the Manitoba RCMP

Once out of the vehicle the victim ran to the closest home. The residents called police.

RCMP searched the area but were unable to find the suspect vehicle.

Police are looking for an 18-22 year-old male who is about 5’8″ tall with a medium build. He has a light-brown complexion, short black hair and a round face.

The vehicle is described as an older model black 4-door pickup truck. The vehicle was covered in dust and police say the vehicle had possibly been repainted.

Police are asking anyone with information to contact RCMP at 204-433-7433 or Crime Stoppers anonymously at 1-800-222-8477, or secure tip online at www.manitobacrimestoppers.com.

Correction: The abduction took place on Ste Annes Road not Road 30 North as had been previously reported by the RCMP.
