RCMP responded to a break-in at a Selkirk retirement home early Monday morning, November 23, 2020.
As officers arrived on the scene they realized the suspect was still in the building. As they approached they determined that entry was gained through a glass door that had been smashed out.

The suspect appears to have panicked in an attempt to flee officers causing significant havoc in the process.
In an effort to defuse the situation police cordoned off an area of the building to contain the suspect with the hopes he would leave the building through the door he had entered.
Video of the incident in progress clearly shows the suspect jumping around inside the building in an effort to evade officers.
The suspect was identified as a deer.
Police say the animal had lost an antler when it entered the building.
The terrified animal was reluctant to leave the residence so officers used furniture and blankets in an effort to guide the buck out of the building but it still wouldn’t leave.
After an hour and a half of coaxing the deer made his escape through an open door and fled the scene.
Police say no humans were injured in the incident.
The investigation continues and there is no word if the suspect will face any charges.
