RCMP have charged a Brandon Man in connection to the death of a two-month-old female infant in January 2016.
Police say that they were called to a home in Sioux Valley Dakota Nation on January 4, 2016. An infant was taken to the hospital in critical condition and died from her injuries on January 26, 2016. The death was deemed a homicide and an immediate investigation began.
In April 2022, investigators received new information which moved the case forward and the charges were approved.
On January 23, 2023, Keifer Mecas was charged for his alleged involvement with Manslaughter.
RCMP continue to investigate.
Mecas was released and is scheduled to appear in court in March 6, 2023.
