RCMP investigating the drowning of a senior

RCMP say that a 75-year-old male appears to have drowned in the Boyne River on a rural property in the RM of Dufferin.

Police say they were called to a rural property on Saturday, November 7, 2020, around 1:45 pm. It was believed at the time the male had accidentally fallen into the river behind his home.

Minutes after officers arrived on the scene they were told that the Carmen Fire Department had recovered the mans body from the river. An attempt to resuscitate the victim was made by paramedics but it was unsuccessful and he was pronounced dead at the scene.

RCMP and the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner continue to investigate.
