On Friday, June 11, 2021, RCMP was called to Stony Mountain Institution after an inmate was stabbed during a fight.

Investigators say that several inmates went into the cell of another inmate where a fight began. During the fight a 42-year-old inmate was stabbed.

Police say the injured inmate was taken to hospital with serious but non-life threatening injuries and is now in stable condition. A second 25-year-old inmate was also hurt during the fight. He was taken to hospital with minor injuries.

RCMP continue to investigate.
