RCMP from Little Grand Rapids are investigating a fatal collision early on New Year’s Day in Pauingassi First Nation.
Police say that they were called to the area around the Main Road and the Winter Road access point in the community just after 1:30 am. Two people on a snowmobile collided with a fishing boat that was on the shore. Both riders were thrown from the machine.
A 20-year-old female died from her injuries after being taken to the local nursing station. A 24-year-old male was taken to hospital with serious injuries. Both riders were from Pauingassi First Nation and were not wearing helmets.
RCMP continue to investigate.
