RCMP investigating fatal accident after teen dies in water tank

RCMP from Blue Hills are investigating a fatal accident in the RM of Whitehead about 238 kilometres west of Winnipeg.

It happened on Sunday, October 15, 2017, just after 3:00 pm. A 14-year-old girl was walking in a farmyard, with supervision, when she stepped on the lid of a water holding tank. The lid was knocked off and the girl fell approximately 20 feet into the water at the bottom of the tank.

The local fire department rescued the girl from the tank and she was taken to Brandon Regional Health Centre where she was pronounced dead.

RCMP are continuing to investigate the incident.
