RCMP have identified remains located at an abandoned property in San Clara, Manitoba as Melinda Lynxleg.
Lynxleg had been reported missing in March of 2020.
Investigators say that new information led them to the property in San Clara and they began searching it on Monday, June 5, 2023. Multiple units in the RCMP were working in the area earlier this week following up on the new information.
“The RCMP does not give up on missing people,” said Sergeant Laura LeDrew, a Manitoba RCMP Major Crime Services investigator. “More than three years of searching, conducting interviews, collecting evidence. We never stopped. Finding Melinda is an important part of this investigation. She can now go home. But our work is not done.”
Lynxleg’s death was confirmed as a homicide during an autopsy earlier this week.
