RCMP in Leaf Rapids say that while officers were patrolling the community on Saturday night they came across a male on Keyask Bay. When questioned the male admitted that he was from Winnipeg and was in the community for a wedding.
Officers explained to the male about the Manitoba Public Health northern travel restrictions north of the 53rd parallel and ask the male to provide them with identification.
After giving the officers a number of false names they learned his true identity and also learned he was wanted on several outstanding warrants from Winnipeg. He was placed under arrest.
21-year-old Kyle Baker was arrested on the strength of four warrants for Assault with a Weapon, Assault, eight counts of Failing to Comply and two counts of Uttering Threats.
Officers also charged Baker for his alleged involvement with Obstruction, Fail to Comply x2 and was fined $486.00 under the Public Health Emergency Order, for Failing to Comply.
Baker was remanded in custody.
