RCMP confirm the identity of Newdale fire victim

An early morning fire in the community of Newdale on Friday, February 14, 2020 claimed the life of one man. Newdale is about 250 kilometres northwest of Winnipeg.

Emergency crews responded to the fire around 5:30 am and once it was brought under control they searched the home and located an unidentified male victim.

Police say the body was taken to Winnipeg where an autopsy was performed. The victim has been positively identified as the 74-year-old resident of the home.

Investigators say the death does not appear to be suspicious.
