RCMP COMMUNITY BLOCK PARTY FRIDAY JULY 7TH

Fun for the whole family

Curious to see the toys the RCMP get to play with?

On Friday July 7, 2017 the RCMP are holding a block party to celebrate Canada 150 and are closing off Dominion Street in front of their Manitoba HQ so they can bring out the big toys. Boats, drones, bomb robots and other equipment and vehicles will be on hand  for everyone to explore and ask questions about.

“We are your provincial police force, and we want you to be able to see the equipment and skills we use to keep Manitobans safe,” said Assistant Commissioner Scott Kolody, Commanding Officer of the RCMP in Manitoba. “We wanted to invite Manitobans to spend time with us and become more familiar with what we do. In Canada’s 150th year, we felt it was important to highlight the partnership between police and all Manitobans.”

What block party would be complete without a BBQ, face painting and of course Safety Bears Hudson and Churchill.

The event kicks off with pipes and drums at 10:00 am followed by the Emergency Response Team rappelling down the side of the headquarters building.

At 11:30 am officers will take the Explosive Disposal Unit robot out for some exercise and a short demonstration.

If it’s food you want then be there at noon as grill gets fired up and the BBQ gets underway.

The planned activities end at 2:00pm just after the Police Dog Services Unit demonstrates the amazing bond human and K-9 officers have!
