In April, 2020, RCMP responded to Stony Mountain Institution after a correctional officer had been assaulted by an inmate.
Police and Stony Mountain staff secured the scene and identified a suspect in the attack.
The correctional officer was taken to hospital, treated and released.

The investigation continued by RCMP Major Crime Unit and on August 18, 2020, an arrest was made.
27-year-old Mahad Mohammed Diblawe was charged for his alleged involvement with Attempted Murder, Aggravated Assault and Assault with a Weapon.
