RCMP have nabbed a 55-year-old male for impersonating a police officer.
Police say that on July 7, 2021 they received a report that a man on Nisichawayasihk Cree Nation was in possession of restricted weapons and was driving in the community in a former police vehicle that had an emergency light bar on the roof.
Officers then learned the suspect had driven to a community COVID-19 check-up in the vehicle and told the attendants that he would be conducting patrols.
Police obtained a search warrant for the suspect’s residence and seized a BB handgun, bear spray wrapped in black tape, police style flashlights, a tactical style vest, handcuffs, ammunition and a Crown Victoria decommissioned police vehicle.
Jack Kobliski was arrested and charged for his alleged involvement with Possession of a Prohibited Weapon and Personating a Police Officer.
He remains in custody.
