RCMP arrest armed robber in New Bothwell

RCMP have arrested a 20-year-old suspect from New Bothwell after he allegedly robbed two youth at knife point in the community.

Police say that a 16-year-old and a 17-year-old were on their way to a store in New Bothwell when they were approached by a male armed with a knife who demanded money.

The youth handed over what they had then ran home and told their parents what had just happened.

Police were called and the investigation led them to arrest the suspect. Officers also seized the knife and clothing used during the robbery.

Bryan Doerksen has been charged for his alleged involvement with Robbery, Disguised with Intent, Possession of a Weapon for Dangerous Purpose and Assault with a Weapon.

He was detained in custody.

RCMP continue to investigate
