RAPID TRANSIT | CITY AWARDS CONSTRUCTION CONTRACT FOR PHASE 2… FINDS $120 MILLION IN SAVINGS

The City of Winnipeg announced a significant cost reduction of approximately $120 million for the Southwest Rapid Transitway (Phase 2) and Pembina Underpass Project with the awarding of the construction contract to Plenary Roads Winnipeg.

The substantial cost savings were realized through the refinement of the final design and a competitive bidding process that allowed for project innovations and lower construction costs. Construction of the Southwest Rapid Transitway will begin this summer. The revised project cost is $467.3 million.
