Police raided two dispensaries, three charged

Winnipeg Police raided two dispensaries on January 8, 2017.

Winnipeg Compassion Club on McPhillips Street and Winnipeg Compassion Club South on Pembina Highway were targeted by police after an investigation that spanned several months. Investigators say that both locations were openly selling marihuana

Officers from the Marihuana Grow Operation Unit as well as community support units executed search warrants and seized about $25,000 in marihuana and an additional $20,000 in marihuana in alternate forms such as ‘edibles’.

‘Edibles’ would be particularly tempting to children and could pose a medical risk if consumed in large amounts.

Police say that marihuana seized in criminal investigations is not medical grade and often contains contaminants which can pose a significant health risk.

Three adult males were arrested and charged with a number of drug offences as well as Possession of Proceeds of Crime.

All three men were released and will appear in court at a future date.
