The Manitoba government has once again extended the state of emergency under the Emergency Measures Act.
In Manitoba a state of emergency gives the government a number of special powers in order to deal with emergencies like the pandemic. Under legislation the state of emergency is only in force for 30 day unless it is extended.
Since March there have been extensions every month and it is reasonable to expect officials will continue to extend the state of emergency until the risk of COVID-19 has ended.
