Province want to hear from Manitobans on Perimeter Highway changes

Manitoba is inviting those interested to have their say on changes to the north Perimeter Highway between Portage Avenue and Fermor Avenue.

Phase two of the Perimeter Safety Review includes closing all non-signaled median openings and stop sign-controlled access points. These changes would limit access to intersections that have either traffic control lights or intersections.

Infrastructure Minister Ron Schuler

“The Perimeter Highway is one of Manitoba’s most important economic corridors. It is a key link in the Trans-Canada Highway and plays a strategic role in Manitoba’s economy by providing industry with access to world markets,” said Infrastructure Minister Ron Schuler. “Engaging with the public will allow our government to consider the safest and most practical options to enhance the North Perimeter Highway while providing access to adjacent properties.”

The proposed changes to the north Perimeter are similar to changes that are currently underway on the south Perimeter Highway. In that section of the ring road 26 median openings or intersections were closed.
