Province expands COVID-19 vaccine eligibility

Effective Monday, May 3, 2021, the Province of Manitoba has expanded the COVID-19 vaccine eligibility to all Indigenous people 18 and older.

“All Indigenous people are now able to make appointments at any super site, pop-up clinic or urban Indigenous vaccine clinic,” said Health and Seniors Care Minister Heather Stefanson. “This will help people across the province access the vaccine and reduce their risk of contracting COVID-19 or having any serious outcomes, protecting themselves and their communities.”

Indigenous people can book appointments at super sites, pop-up clinics or urban Indigenous clinics by calling 1-844-626-8222.

Currently people aged 18 and older who are pregnant, a client of Community Living disABILITY Services, work in any health care setting including outpatient settings, or work as a front-line police officer or firefighter are also eligible.

Under current guidelines people aged 40 and older and people aged 30-39 with certain medical conditions are eligible to receive the AstraZeneca vaccine at pharmacies and medical clinics.

Those aged 50 and older are eligible to receive the Pfizer and Moderna vaccine at super sites or pop-up clinics across the province.
