Risk of fire high in some areas of Manitoba
Due to the risk of wildfire Sustainable Development and the Fire Commissioner’s office have cancelled burning permits in central and eastern Manitoba. Officials say that hot, dry and windy conditions have elevated the wildfire danger in these areas.
In Manitoba no open burning is allowed without a permit between April 1 and November 15. Often towns and cities implement their own restriction related to burning. In Winnipeg permits are required for any open air burning.

The province is also reminding those who use all-terrain vehicles in authorized areas to stay on the developed trails, stop often to check for debris around engine and exhaust. Riders are encouraged to carry a small shovel, axe and a fire extinguisher at all times.
