Protest planned for Portage & Main
Protesters have taken to Facebook inviting people to gather at Portage Avenue and Main Street tonight at 6:00 pm.
They are planning to protest the federal government’s approval of the Kinder Morgan and Enbridge Pipelines.
According to their social media page the group want people to gather on the four corners of the intersection but say:
“DOING IT AGAIN ON THURSDAY 6pm
RALLY ON THE FOUR CORNERS OF PORTAGE & MAIN
BRING DRUMS SIGNS FRIENDS FAMILY
MAYBE WELL GO FOR A WALK TOO”
Last month the group gathered to protest the Dakota Pipeline and tied up traffic for hours in the downtown core.
Tonight may be more of the same as more than 100 people have said they are going to the event. Tonight is also a hockey night in the downtown and spectators will be making their way to the MTS centre at about the same time the protest is scheduled to start.
