UPDATE

After spending more than 18 months investigating a cold case involving the death of a woman in October 2003 officers with Project Devote have made an arrest.

Officers from the joint RCMP / WPS task force say that on October 2, 2003 32-year-old Nicolle Hands was fatally injured in her apartment on Mountain Avenue in Winnipeg. Hands was rushed to hospital but died three days later.

The case remained unsolved for more than 16 years.

On Saturday March 7, 2020, investigators arrested a Winnipeg man in connection to the murder.

The name of the accused has not been released because charges have yet to be laid say police.

On Sunday March 8, 2020, the suspect was released from custody without charges.

The investigation continues.
