A 21-year-old male is facing drug trafficking charges after he was arrested for a parole violation.
Police say that on Monday May 30, 2022, around 7:45 am officers were alerted to activity in the cell block area. Police determined that the prisoner, who was awaiting transfer to a different facility, had two gallons of drugs inside his body.
The 21-year-old male was able to remove one of the balloons but the other got stuck. He was taken to hospital and medical professionals were able to remove the second ballon. The male was returned to the detachment cells once he was medically cleared.
RCMP say that the balloons contained more than 40 grams of methamphetamine.
The male remains in custody.
