Manitoba Premier Brian Pallister laid down the law Monday afternoon for all Manitoba government Order-in-Council appointees thinking of taking a vacation during the pandemic.
In a late afternoon media release the premier cited concern for COVID-19 variants that are now emerging before issuing a threat to appointees that their appointment will be terminated should they travel outside of permitted travel areas for leisure.
Order-in-council appointments include those serving on agencies, boards and commissions.
Wayne McWhirter the chair of the Winnipeg Regional Health Authority will be stepping down from his position after discussion with the premier’s office. It was discovered that McWhirter had travelled to Arizona in recent weeks.
