The search at the Prairie Green Landfill has yielded a significant development, with experts on-site identifying potential human remains within the search materials. This information was released today, prompting the Manitoba RCMP to launch a formal investigation.
“The Manitoba RCMP has now initiated a found human remains investigation at the site and steps for identification are underway,” stated a release. The Office of the Chief Medical Examiner has also been engaged, adhering to established protocols.
The discovery has triggered a series of crucial actions, immediately focusing on confirming the findings and identifying the remains.
The families of Morgan Harris and Marcedes Myran, two women whose remains are believed to be at the landfill, have been notified of this development and were present at the site.
Winnipeg Police Service Interim Chief issued a statement late Wednesday afternoon. “The Winnipeg Police Service is aware that searchers have recovered potential human remains at the Prairie Green Landfill. Our thoughts go out to the MMIWG2S+ community and all families who are awaiting word on their missing loved ones.”
