Selkirk RCMP are investigating the possible drowning of an 85-year-old male in Netley Creek on Monday August, 19. 2019
Police say the man had swam out to his boat that had drifted away from shore without wearing a lifejacket. As he approached his boat he began to have difficulty and went under the water near his boat.
A boater in the area came to the man’s aid by jumping in the water and grabbing a hold of him.
Police arrived shortly after and with help from another boater were taken to the scene and helped pull the man from the water. Officer performed CPR on the victim until medical personnel arrived on scene.
The male was taken to hospital but died soon afterwards.
Police and the medical examiner are continuing to investigate.
