Portage la Prairie police investigate pizza thefts

RCMP are investigating three robberies in recent weeks from pizza delivery drivers in Portage la Prairie.

The crime spree began on April 23, 2022, just after 10:00 pm when a delivery driver was dropping off pizzas on Oak Bay in the community. The 38-year-old male driver was approached by a male, threatened with a knife and forced to hand over the pizzas before the suspect fled on foot. The driver was not injured.

RCMP say the suspect was described as a male wearing dark clothing and a surgical mask.

On May 1, 2022, a second pizza theft occurred on 10th Street NW. The delivery driver was approached by a male and threatened with a machete before the robber stole the pizzas and fled on foot. The 40-year-old male victim was not injured.

The suspect is described as an Indigenous male, 5’10”, wearing jeans and a black hoody.

Two days later the third robbery occurred this time on Wilkinson Crescent. Around 10:20 pm the male delivery driver was approached by a male suspect who brandished a knife and threatened the victim. The suspect demanded the keys to the vehicle and the pizzas. The suspect then drove off in the vehicle.

Police describe the suspect as Caucasian, short in stature, clean-shaven face and was wearing dark clothing, a hat, gloves and baggy pants.

The stolen vehicle is a 2016 Honda Accord with Manitoba licence plate KLD 198.
