RCMP in Portage la Prairie are investigating a fatal snowmobile collision that occurred on Sunday afternoon, November 21, 2021, in a field near Saskatchewan Avenue East in the community.
According to police the 57-year-old male had been driving the snowmobile northbound through the field when he drove into a line of trees. A number of large branches were hit and the rider fell off the machine. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
At the time of the collision the male was wearing a helmet. Police say they believe alcohol and speed played a factor in the collision.
