Firefighters were called to a fire in a five-storey commercial building around 10:49 am on Portage Avenue on Monday morning, January 3, 2022.
Heavy smoke was coming from the structure as emergency crews arrived. A second alarm was called in to increase the number of crew and equipment on scene.
An offensive attack was launched and the fire was declared under control at 11:44 am.
Everyone who was inside the building at the time of the fire was able to get out safely. No injuries were reported.
The building suffered significant smoke, water and fire damage according to officials.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
