Portage Avenue East to Close for Concrete Pour, Affecting Midday Traffic on Friday

Motorists planning to travel eastbound on Portage Avenue East should prepare for delays this Friday, March 28th, as a portion of the thoroughfare will be temporarily closed. The City of Winnipeg has announced the closure to facilitate a crucial concrete pour, a key component of the ongoing Portage & Main pedestrian reopening project.

The closure will be in effect from 9:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., impacting midday traffic flow. While vehicular traffic will be restricted, pedestrian access along Portage Avenue East will be maintained throughout the duration of the work.

The city also clarified that other existing closures in and around the Portage & Main intersection will remain unchanged at this time.

Drivers are strongly advised to plan alternative routes and allow for extra travel time.
