Manitoba’s police watchdog agency is investigating an incident involving a Manitoba First Nations Police Service officer.

According to the Independent Investigation Unit (IIU) of Manitoba, RCMP officers responded to a vehicle rollover in Sioux Valley First Nation on January 21, 2023. When officers arrived they were told by an individual at the scene that a Manitoba First Nations Police Service officer had gone to the scene but after an altercation, with the individual, the officer left.

The IIU civilian director has determined that it is in the public interest to investigate the incident.
