Police warn public of sexual offender release

Manitoba’s Integrated High Risk Sex Offender Unit (MIHRSOU) advised the public that 37-year-old Christopher Assiniboine was released from prison on March 31, 2020.

Assiniboine was serving a 90-day suspension at Stony Mountain Institution after he breached the terms of his supervision order.

He had been convicted for sexual assault and utter threats involving an 18-year-old female in May of 2015.

Upon his release he was deemed a long term sexual offender and subject to a ten year supervision order.

Assiniboine has a history of violent sexual offending according to MIHRSOU. He is an untreated sex offender who is considered high risk to reoffend in a sexual manner. All females, both adult and children are at risk.

Assiniboine is expected to live in Winnipeg.
