Winnipeg Police Service is investigating two cases of dogs being intentionally poisoned in the Minto area of the city.
Police say the owners of the dogs reported that their pets had ingested rodent poison within their fenced properties. The rodent poison was in plastic bags and appears to have been thrown into the yards. One of the dogs survived the incident after medical treatment, the other died from ingesting the poison.
Police are asking pet owners to report any suspicious circumstances surrounding their pet being poisoned from items thrown in their yards and to seek immediate veterinary help.
Reports can be made by calling the Winnipeg Police Service non-emergency line at (204) 986-6222 or in person by visiting Winnipeg Police Service Headquarters at 245 Smith Street.
