Winnipeg police are advising motorcycle and scooter owners to take steps to make their rides more difficult to steal.
In 2020 195 motorcycles and scooters were stolen in the city and so far in 2021 police have received 50 reports of thefts. Most of the thefts occurred between midnight and 5:00 am say police and more than half of those are taken from driveways, parking lots, carports and garages at residences.
Motorcycles and scooters are easy target for thieves if they don’t have any anti-theft provisions. Police recommend that all owners use anti-theft devices anytime their vehicle is parked. Tire-locking devices and an ignition lock can help deter thefts.
