Police tipped to Portage la Prairie drug sellers, two in custody

RCMP have two suspects in custody after receiving reports that they were involved in selling drugs out of a truck in Portage la Prairie.

Police say that on April 10, 2020, they were tipped off to two suspicious men just after 9:00 am on Saskatchewan Avenue West.

As officers were responding to the scene a check of the vehicle’s license plate number revealed that the truck had been stolen out of Winnipeg.

Police found the vehicle and arrested the two men. A search of the truck uncovered imitation firearms, a machete, bear spray and drugs.

30-year-old Matthew Miles from Winnipeg has been charged for his alleged involvement with:

  • Possession of weapon for Dangerous purpose x4
  • Unauthorized Possession of Prohibited Weapon
  • Weapon Possession Contrary to order x2
  • Possession of Property Obtained by Crime
  • Possession of Methamphetamine
  • Fail to comply with release order

Glen Thompson, 30 from Winnipeg has been charged for his alleged involvement with:

  • Possession of weapon for Dangerous purpose x4
  • Unauthorized Possession of Prohibited Weapon
  • Weapon Possession Contrary to order x2
  • Possession of Property Obtained by Crime
  • Possession of Methamphetamine
  • Driving while Prohibited

Both men were detained in custody.

RCMP are continuing to investigate.
