A chase through Winnipeg streets ended after a Winnipeg Police SUV took out the suspect vehicle by ramming it in the rear end.

The chase originally began in Headingley but as the suspect sped into Winnipeg the RCMP called WPS for backup. Police cut off the chase after the suspect vehicle, a black BMW with Ontario plates, began driving erratically.

As the vehicle approached the Polo Park area on Portage Avenue police surrounded the car but it was able to squeeze by patrol vehicles turning onto a side road.

A WPS SUV quickly took out the vehicle by ramming the rear end and spinning it around. As the suspect came to a stop it was surrounded.

The dramatic takedown was recorded and posted on social media by several witnesses.

Officers had to break the glass on the driver’s side window to gain access to the car and pull the driver out and place him into custody.

Police say no one was injured in the pursuit.

The driver was handed over to RCMP
