Winnipeg Police have arrested and charged a male associated with the move of a large building on Roblin Boulevard on Saturday, August 7, 2021.
Police say that around 7:00 am officers from the traffic unit were on scene to facilitate the transport of a building by a moving company. The company had obtained a permit prior to the move and officers confirmed that the dimensions of the building matched what was on the permit.
Once the move began it became obvious to officers that the moving company had not confirmed the accessibility of the route which they are required to do within the permit.
Police say that multiple trees along the route were either trimmed or cut down. The male responsible for cutting the trees has been charged for his alleged involvement with Mischief Over $5,000.
Officers temporarily halted the move until City of Winnipeg Forestry officials can determine the least impactful measures to continue with the move.
