Police set to enforce gathering sizes in Winnipeg

Winnipeg Police Service (WPS) announced on Wednesday, November 4, 2020, that they have begun taking calls from the public regarding gathering sizes in private homes.

Police say that officers will be dispatched to intervene as required.

The WPS says that their response is “intended to ensure the safety and wellbeing of the public, and we will continue to remind people of the measures they can take to ensure their own safety.”

The Winnipeg Metropolitan Region is currently Critical (Red) under the Pandemic Response System. Gathering sizes are restricted to no more that five people in public and private settings.

Fines for individuals are currently $1,296 for breaching public health orders.

Winnipeg Police warn that those who continue to ignore public health orders regarding gathering sizes may be subject to enforcement action.
